Internet Explorer 7.0

Hi all,

It seems Internet Explorer 7 has become a priority update all f a sudden! I installed it a while ago as a custom install, and didn't like the layout of it (I can use the screen with some accessibility adjustments). I downgraded back to IE 6.0 again, but forgot about it and reinstalled it as an update, still didn't like the layout and downgraded again.

A friend of mine has just updated to IE 7 today and found it worked quicker and was fine to operate with Jaws, but after about an hour's perfect browsing Internet Explorer said it couldnot display the web pages, although she still had MSN Messenger running and that was working fine, so thee must have been an internet connection. We tried all sorts to make it realise the connection was still there but it could not use it, and so she downgraded back to IE 6.

So basically I wanted to see what people have thought about Internet Explorer 7 - good or bad - and what problems people have had (and solutions if found!)

Look forward to reading of your experiences, gripes etc.

I have had only a few JAWS problems. I use the most current JAWS. I have noticed that JAWS loses focus to the internet and the regular PC cursor is there instead of the virtual one. Found a quick fix that is a bit a pain, or JAWS just quits seeing the web page, saying there is no heading, links, or such. Doing the JAWS refresh *insert plus escape* works to fix it. Those are my major problems so far.

I think we talked about this somewhere else on the boards.

It is my understanding that jaws 8 will work with internet explorer 7 pretty well. I have jfw v6.2, so have fought off microsoft's attempts to force IE7 on me.

I have a question for you, once you installed it, how did you get back to IE6? Was it difficult?

Thanks
Bob

to uninstall it, just go to the add or remove programs option in control panel, and uninstall the windows internet explorer 7 item near the bottom
i really like IE 7 myself, and jaws 8 works very well with it too.

do you still have internet explorer 6 on your computer after you've installed IE7?

yeh you do bob but you have to restart.
Ie7 works fine with supernova/hal.
I have to say that your friends problem sounds more like dns faileyer than ie.

Hi BB. I have that same problem you are having with IE6 and the latest version of jaws. Anyways do to the ongoing problems I've heard on various lists about IE7 I have not upgraded. I still get patch updates and stuff even though I don't have IE7.

I've heard that jaws tends to get lost after a short time.
Also, the tabs for pages doesn't work with jaws.
